Shin Chon Seolleongtang(신촌설렁탕)

First time having Korean food and I was floored with how flavorful the soup was. I can taste how rich it was. The meat so tender, darn near taste the collagen.

Shin Chon Seolleongtang is a hidden gem in Koreatown that seriously delivers on flavor. The soy-marinated shrimp was incredibly fresh—perfectly seasoned with just the right balance of salty and sweet. A great way to start the meal. The galbijjim was also a standout: tender, fall-off-the-bone short ribs in a rich, savory sauce with just a hint of sweetness. You can tell they take time to do it right. Service was friendly and fast, and the space was clean and welcoming. Whether you're craving a warm bowl of soup or a hearty shared dish, this spot won’t disappoint. Will definitely be coming back!

Had the Yook Kae Jang (spicy shredded beef soup). It was very tasty and felt like it was cleanly made. By that I mean I'm very particular about fatty or grisly meat and what was in the perfectly seasoned soup was just clean shredded beef. Also ordered the kimchi mandoo which comes 4 to an order. Four different types of banchan were provided and all were fresh, well seasoned and delicious.

Soy-Braised Beef Ribs Big bowl with 4–5 huge ribs, super flavorful. Braised until fall-off-the-bone tender — honestly, you barely need to chew. Great portion for a family of three, and only $30. Beef & Offal Soup with Noodles Very generous with the beef. Rich, comforting broth that’s not too salty. Comes with noodles and is super warming — kids loved this one. Hangover Soup Went for the spicy version. Deep, comforting flavor, with tender pork. Very warming. Most soups are just a little over $10 and come with rice and side dishes. Marinated Raw Shrimp A pleasant surprise — fresh, sweet, slightly reminiscent of Ningbo-style shrimp. Only $8. Nothing fancy, just solid, home-style dishes. Great value for money.

Fantastic location. Super friendly staff and really tasty food! The portion sizes are great and the depths of flavour are commendable. Being in K-Town it is convenient to have this spot as an option. Particularly liked their side dishes! Highly recommended spot. To note, spicy is...spicy, so be warned. The staff is accomodating and can adjust the spice levels.

cozy Korean spot in Ktown, Shin Chon Seolleongtang, is my hidden gem! It’s in the same plaza as the trendy café Yeems Coffee, and the free parking is a huge plus. The menu is simple but solid — their signature dishes are Seolleongtang (ox bone soup), hangover soup, and my go-tos, #4 Ox Knee Bone Soup and #6 Short Rib Soup, which I’ve ordered over and over again. Every sip feels like pure comfort. Even though they’re known for their soups, the real showstopper here is #10 Galbijjim (braised short ribs) — unbelievably tender, melt-in-your-mouth, and absolutely worth the $30 price tag at a spot where most dishes are around $15-18. They also have Korean-style marinated raw shrimp, which turned out to be surprisingly delicious. If I lived nearby, this would definitely be my go-to comfort spot. With LA’s winter around the corner, this little restaurant has once again become my warm and cozy haven.

Have been passing this store many times! I finally went last night! First time come here! Everything tastes so good! So good you want to dance. Everything on the menu is tax included! Too conscientious! Eat them all! The owner she said she makes all the kimchi herself! It's really delicious! Extra fresh! Food Very authentic! The cups at are lovely! Excellent service attitude! The ambiance here sooo good!

So cute small restaurant and vey yummy food, like the soy sauce shrimps and shin chon soup noodle, ribs also very yummy. Service very good and warm and makes me feel eat at home. Restaurant is warm and parking very easy for free. Definitely will go back again.
